Differentially Label

Hi all,

I'm quite new in Molecular biology and wish to know more. I saw this two question not very sure how we can do it.

How can we differentially label (make different) DNA and RNA?
How can we differentially label (make different) DNA/RNA and protein?

Hope that someone can assist me in this. Thanks in advance =)

for labeling NAs you can use e.g. Cy3 and Cy5 or plenty fluorescent colors used in qPCR such as TaqMan and many others.

And I think that Cy3 and Cy5 can be used even for proteins. For some other labels look for differential 2D electrophoresis.

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

For RNA and DNA, is it the uracil in RNA and the thymine in DNA that will produce different fluorescent colours?

There are countless fluorescent markers who have different physical properties and are able to give different colors.
T and U are not fluorescent by themselves, but if a fluorescent moiety is attached to them (obviously with different spectral properties) they will be easy to separate.
