Re: Introduction for members
Hi everyone... signed up just recently.
Been involved in a number of discussion forums over the years, so I'm planning to stick around here for a bit and test the waters. Not sure yet how active this group is at present?
My name is Chris; I'm male, age 54, living in Australia, currently training to be a nursing aid (aged care) which will be a new career for me. Going on placement in 2 weeks and be looking for work by December. Wish me luck!
Earlier career: academic, computer science. Became redundant in 2005 along with quite a few other info tech academics in Australia around that time; student numbers crashed and a number of faculties downsized in a big way.
I love science generally and have a particular affinity for physics. But I've also picked up a lot of biology interest in particular when I became involved in the now inactive website talk.origins, which was focused on explaining evolution for people troubled by the claims of creationists. Also did a bit of bioinformatics at various times as part of my academic work in computer science.
Plus I have a cat. That's biology, right?
Cheers -- Chris
