protein structures

Post by jutter » Wed Feb 09, 2011 3:35 am

I am having the hardest time with this question, please help me out!
Its really long.

-In the ________ of a protein the polypeptide is folded through the mechanism of amino acids rotating around bonds and folding into a _______ and stabilized by _________ bonds

-_________ formed by _________ reactions link amino acids together forming a linear chain

-In the ________ of a protein the amino acid side chains of the folded polypeptide interact, forming a complex ________

-________ are the building blocks of proteins. They are made up of a center carbon atom bound to a positively charged ________ group and negatively charged _______ group and a side chain

-The ________ of a protein exists if multiple polypeptides bind together to form a functional protein

The answer choices are:
Alpha helix or beta-pleated sheet structure
Quaternary Structure
3 dimensional shape
Tertiary Structure
Primary Structure
Secondary structure
Amino acids
Amino acid

that's not that hard.

secondary structure - the rest you should be able to find out now

peptide bond - the second you should find out

tertiary structure - guess the last one

you should know, what are the building blocks of proteins  and the rest should be easy

if multiple peptides bind together, what level of structure is that

You're wrong, that's pretty easy, especially, as you have list of possible words...

Cis or trans? That's what matters.

Hey, can you send across some problem sets/assignments like these? I feel they're good to arrange one's thoughts, but I am tired of searching through the net finding for such problems.

Tell me if you are here!

I guess you'd be more aware of such problem sets! Do you have any that you can refer me to?
