Buffer solutions
Hi can anyonehelp me solve this, I know it should be easy but I can't work it out
Given 1M of acetic acid
and 1M NaOH
You are to prepare l litre of a 0.15m acetate buffer pH is 5.0 and pKa is 4.7
1.How many mLs of hte 1M acetic acid will you use?
2.In the final buffer solution what is the concentration of acetic acid + acetate ion
3.what is the ratin of acetic acid to acetate ion
4.how much of the 1M Noah will you add to make this buffer
Thanks

1) use c1V1 = c2V2
2) calculate by second calculation in here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffer_sol ... n_constant
3) that's the ratio in previous equation
4) equals to the amount of acetate
