non fat milk in blocking

Why we must use the non fat milk ( and no the fat milk) for membrane blocking ?
What is the effect of lipids (of the fat milk) on immunodetection ?

Not sure if there are any effects, although coating your membrane with fat might be a problem to the following steps. And I guess that this is the main point, non fat milk is as cheap and easily accessible than milk, and by using it you have basically what you want: a cheap protein suspension. Trying with the fat version might not change the results, but it could, so why even bother.
