Prokaryotic DNA replication

Does prokaryotic DNA replication involve synthesis of an RNA primer?
Like for example the circular chromosome of bacteria. In order to start synthesizing a new strand on the template, a primer may be essential. I don't know.

GENETICS 58) Yeah, I think large population should only be K not M because (in M) from generation 2 to 3, there is a drop in frequency of 0.30 which is large I must say. Maximum genetic variability too will only be in K not M. (K&M would have been the answer if both had same variability) CELLBIO...

Stimulating questions

I am posting some good biology questions. I want to discuss the answers with everyone here. I have marked my answers for only some of them though. Post your answers too. This is what wiki says: Cyanobacteria include unicellular and colonial species. Colonies may form filaments, sheets or even hollow balls. Some filamentous colonies show the ability to differentiate into several different cell types: vegetative cells, the normal, photosynthetic cells that are formed ...

Oxidative stress

Well, I don't know much about this topic (I have tried searching the net but nothing gives me exactly the info. I want) so here are my questions: 1. What is oxidative stress? 2. What factors can cause oxidative stress in cells? 3. How is it combated? I guess peroxisomes play a role in it though it i...

It is a structure in some animal groups.

And wikipedia doesn't provide enough information about it.

Crop & gizzard

Following is what I know about the crop and the gizzard: Crop: used for storing food Gizzard: comes after crop and used for grinding hard foods Well, that is my limited knowledge about these two structures. I want to know more. I have some questions: 1. Are these structures glandular? 2. Any enzyme ...
