I forget the name of the substance, but it suspends mitosis in prometaphase because microtubuli cause organisation in the metaphasic plane.

Not of the virus, but Avery, McCarty and Macleod confirmed that DNA was the genetic carrier of bacteria by adding DNAase to suspensions of bacteria and observing that no transformation takes place under those conditions.
