What's the major difference between the blood flowing through arteries and veins? Oxygenation, yes? Fine. Hypodermic placed into an artery, which is harder to find than a vein. This hurts. Blood taken out under pressure and tested for 02 content among other things. Leaves a bruise for weeks.

One such test done using the artery is the blood gas test. I probably don't need to explain it, just rest assured that it HURTS LIKE HELL.
