what are the passive properties of the membrane?

Describe the contribution of passive electrical properties of membranes, to propagation of Action Potential along the myelinated axons. I know how action potential is generated, what myelinated axons are, but I am just confused about the active and passive properties of the membrane. This was a test...

what is the relationship between hemolysis & molecular weigh

is it true that as the lipid water partition coefficient increases, the permeability of lipid increases and the permeability of water lowers. does that mean that a substance w/ a high lipid water partition coeffecient will be able to go through the cell membrane more easily and cause hemolysis faste...

what is the difference between neoteny and post development

what is the difference between neoteny and post development according to my lecture neoteny = early maturation of gonads in larva that then stops growing and never becomes an adult post development = onset of a developmental process is delayed relative to reproductive maturation ...they sound like t...

haploid organism undergoin meiosis probabilty, please help

suppose that meiosis occurs in the transient diploid stage of the cycle of a haploid organism of chromosome number n. what is the probability that an individual resulting from the meiotic division will have a complete set of centromeres (that is, a set all from 1 parent and all from the other parent...

probability of coin toss, please help :)

if 2 coins are tossed 20 times, how many of those tosses would you expect to result in both coins landing heads up? show your calculations. my attempt: for each toss the probability of heads is 0.5 therefore the probability of heads for both coins is 0.5 * 0.5 = 0.25 5/20 times the coins will both b...

enzyme activity, please help

can an enzyme have a negative activity? i had to do this lab and the values i got produce a negative value for activity. so i will just list here a few values that give a negative activity Optical Density at 0 time, OD after 60s 0.91, 0.92 0.91, 0.93 to find activity you do the following: (OD at 0 t...
