Zygodactylous

(Science: ornithology, zoology) yoke-footed; having the toes disposed in pairs; applied to birds which have two toes before and two behind, as the parrot, cuckoo, woodpecker, etc.

Origin: gr. A yoke, pair _ finger, toe: cf. F. Zygodactyle.
