hepatitis caused by a nonenveloped, single-stranded, positive-sense rNA virus 27-34 nm in diameter, unrelated to other hepatitis; it is the principal cause of enterically transmitted, waterborne, epidemic nANB hepatitis occurring primarily in asia and Africa.
