Oxyvanadium ions in various states of oxidation. They act primarily as ion transport inhibitors due to their inhibition of sodium-, potassium-, and calcium-atpase transport systems. They also have insulin-like action, positive inotropic action on cardiac ventricular muscle, and other metabolic effects.
