Guard Cell: One of a pair of cells around each stoma (a small opening in the surface of a leaf) in the epidermis of a leaf or stem that regulates the opening and closing of the stoma

well my plant physiology is a bit rusty, but I am sure that guard cells and root hair cells develop from epidermal cells (of leaf and root respectively). Can't help ...
