teniposide

(Science: chemical) A cytotoxic semisynthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin that may be effective in cancer chemotherapy. It prevents cells from entering the prophase of mitosis and inhibits dNA synthesis.

Pharmacological action: antineoplastic agent, phytogenic, nucleic acid synthesis inhibitors.
