why is green photosynthesis so dominant?

I wonder if we could engineer a black plant that could absorb more of the suns energy. A good thing for a science fiction book, one where a nuclear winter blocks the sun or something :P

Apply some melanin reducing fairness creams. Regularly and at the time of outings use Suns Cream. Eat Fruits, Drink more water. You will retain yor color soon.

a lot of insects use the angle of the suns rays for navigation because the suns rays are coming from so far away the angle will always remain essentially the same however, when a source such as a light bulb is emitting light (especially at night) ...
