Results from our forumRe: Signaling between the ribosome and synthetaseAs far as I know there is no signaling between ribosome and synthetase. tRNAs linked to amino acids are present in the cytosol. The ribosome uses them, stripping off the amino acids. When an aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase encounters an unloaded tRNA, it puts ...

Signaling between the ribosome and synthetase... there is a point at which the ribosome requires a particular amino acid. Is there a signaling process between the ribosome and Aminoacyl tRNA synthetase indicating a particular need? Or are all varieties of aminoacyl-tRNA floating in the cytoplasm and available for the ribosomes? I hope this ...

What does peroxynitrite do in cytotoxicity of cells? An article was given to us by our zoology professor entitled "DNA strand breakage, activation of poly(ADP-ribose) synthetase, and cellular energy depletion are involved in the cytotoxicity in macrophages and smooth muscle cells exposed to peroxynitrite". The article is basically ...

Re: Crosswords will be the death of me..... protein, so it can't be the answer to "proteins that make ATP." Possible answers that occur to me might be "synthase" or "synthetase" or even "enzyme". ATPase could also be an answer, but unless you're supposed to use the acronym that would be a rather long ...

genome... an enzyme? or not a structural protein? or exactly what? To my mind a polypeptide is, by definition, a protein, be it a small peptide, or F1-ATP synthetase. But maybe you mean “protein” in some special or functional way. In any event, there certainly are more than 260-380 proteins represented ...
