... See the trend here? People say "Oh wow that is a miracle, no evolution could produce that" then someone sits down and thinks about it for a while and comes up with several valid possibilities, t'has happened many times before and as we learn we will uncover ...

Re: Any other explanations other than Mutation?

... be taught in classrooms alongside heliocentricism. Of course, if we start doing that, we're also going to have to teach children that the earth sits on the back of a giant tortoise, babies are delivered by the stork, and the entire universe was created by the flying spaghetti monster. Electron transport chain and DCPIP?

... you say cyanide increases the rate of DCPIP reduction (and since i know that cyanide blocks complex IV - cytochrome c oxidase) I would guess SCPIP sits between complex III and IV. When you inhibit complex IV, DCPIP has nowhere to give it's electrons to and becomes reduced. then you need to look ...

Re: upstream downstream

Transcription runs 5' (start) to 3' (end). Anything that sits 5' to the start site is outside the transcribed region but lies "upstream" of the start site. A cis-acting element must act on the same segment of "gene" (it usually is ...

Re: Can anyone help with this RNA question

... thing as the translational start site. Bacterial promoter regions are generally composed of two very roughly conserved features. The Pribnow Box sits 5-8 bases upstream of the transcriptional start site (almost always an A or G), while the +35 region sits roughly 30-40 bases upstream of the transcriptional ...
