Sex linkage

Definition

noun

A condition in which a characteristic that apparently manifests more frequently in one sex than in the other is associated with the gene(s) located in the sex chromosome.

Supplement

There are certain characteristics that are apparently expressed more frequently in one sex than the other (such as in males than in females). This only shows that the genes in the sex chromosomes have an influence in the expression of certain characteristics of an individual.

Re: maping and linkage problems

Genetic linkage occurs when particular genetic loci or alleles for genes are inherited jointly. Genetic loci on the same chromosome are physically connected and tend to stay together during meiosis, and are thus genetically linked. ...
