Membrane bounded vesicle derived from the Golgi apparatus and containing material that is to be released from the cell.

After glycolysation, the proteins are moved into secretory vesicles which travel along the cytoskeleton to the edge of the cell. The vesicle then fuses with the cell membrane at a structure called the porosome to release its contents out of the cell's environment (exocytosis).

The contents inside the vesicle may be densely packed, often in an inactive precursor form (zymogen).
