question about apple decay

try ethanol. Ethanol is released as fruit ripens and rots, the more fruit the higher the concentration of ethanol in the area---hence, the phrase one bad apple spoils the barrel... Anyhow, put a couple apples and a few bananas in a plastic bag ...
