Raccoon

raccoon

(Science: zoology) A North American nocturnal carnivore of the genus procyon of the family procyonidae (Procyon lotor) which allied to the bears, but much smaller, and having a long, full tail, banded with black and gray. Two subgenera and seven species are currently recognised.

Its body is gray, varied with black and white. Called also coon, and mapach.

Origin: F. Raton, prop, a little rat, fr. Rat rat, perhaps of German origin. See Rat.

Can you distinguish a raccoon from say a chimpanzee i can distinguish Chihuahua and saint Bernard are they different species to say so requires a definition of species but ...

Why do you keep talking about species

Can you distinguish a raccoon from say a chimpanzee i can distinguish Chihuahua and saint Bernard are they different species to say so requires a definition of species but biologist cant tell us what a species is

gamila, You didn't answer my question. Can you distinguish a raccoon from say a chimpanzee? If you can, the biological classification system has done well enough. Even if there is a variation within a type or kind of organism, "species" is going ...

What is a raccoon gamila? Could you define a raccoon, or distinguish one from another animal. Species...A common definition is that of a group of organisms capable of interbreeding and producing fertile offspring, and separated ...

Biology is not a science

Have you ever seen a raccoon gamila? fact is biologist cant tell you what a species or phylum are thus it cannot locate the objects of its own classificatory systems thus it is not a science
