pterygoid nerve

(Science: anatomy, nerve) One of two motor branches, lateral and medial, of the mandibular nerve, supplying the lateral and medial pterygoid muscles with fibres of the motor root of the trigeninal nerve.

Synonym: nervus pterygoideus.
