Converting to energy source- glycolysis etc..

... produces ATP and NADPH which is used in the Calvin cycle to produce carbohydrates...so how come plants produce carbohydrates for energy while the products of the electron transport chain is just ATP? Does the ATP from the electron transport chain get converted into carbohydrates also??? thanks
