Re: Homework question that I must be over-thinking.... challenges, it becomes accepted as a reasonable model for the way that some aspect of the world works. When a hypothesis fails a challenge, that opens the problem of developing a new hypothesis that is consistent with previous observation and offers predictive power so that it can be tested.
