... found today only in even-tooled ungulates. They were in the beginning only semi-aquatic, then fully aquatic, and then evolved to live in the deep oceans. Early whales all have teeth, not baleen. Baleen was a fairly recent adaption.

... Venus is a good example --the atmosphere is mostly CO2 and N and the avg temp is 467 C!! If there was enough water vapor there to fill the oceans then it would have added to the greenhouse gases. No condensation, no water and lots of heat--no life unless you say archaens (extremeophiles) ...

How much CO2 in the early earth's atmosphere?

... worry much about that. Besides, CH4 causes greenhouse effect 20 times than CO2. "By what mechanism, then did the earth cool in order for the oceans to form?" I don't understand this question, could you clarify for me??? Is it about earth's history???
