nystagmus

(Science: neurology) An involuntary, rapid, rhythmic movement of the eyeball, which may be horizontal, vertical, rotatory or mixed, i.e., of two varieties.

Origin: Gr. Nystagmos = drowsiness, from nystazein = to nod
