I am not informed with all the genetics, but I am studying Neandertals at CSUS right now and a huge debate is taking place right now whether they were actually a sub species of Homo sapiens. Are they Homo sapien neandertalensis or Homo neandertalensis? There is no indication that they were ill equip...
