Median

median

(Science: statistics) Any value that divides the probability of a random variable in half, i.e. The probability of observing a value above the median and the probability of observing a value below the median are both less than or equal to one half.

For a finite population or sample, the median is the middle value of an odd number of values (arranged in ascending order) or any value between the two middle values of an even number of values, in the latter case it is conventional to use the average of the two middle values.

Origin: L. Medianus

... Secondly I kinda thought up a test setup for you. In one test, use a fake magnet, the other test you could divide the tank with some sort of median, and put magnet on one side of median with fish on other side. Try exp with both poles of magnet. Then do same on other side of median. I made ...

... than one mean or of clustering by groups? I haven’t seen anything yet that strongly convinces me to switch from means and parametric statistics to medians and non-parametric statistics, though you can certainly calculate both and compare the results. When you use means as your measure of central ...

... than Boxplots when there are few subjects because they use a maximum on information of the data) I'm still not sure if I have to use mean or median because it's not clear to me if there's normal distribution in each group. You can see a few outliers in 3 of the 4 groups but I don't know if ...
