Dictionary » L » Lemur LemurLemur (Science: zoology) One of a family (Lemuridae) of nocturnal mammals allied to the monkeys, but of small size, and having a sharp and foxlike muzzle, and large eyes. They feed upon birds, insects, and fruit, and are mostly natives of madagascar and the neighboring islands, one genus (galago) occurring in Africa. The slow lemur or kukang of the East Indies is Nycticebus tardigradus. See galago, indris, and Colugo. Origin: L, a ghost, specter. So called on account of its habit of going abroad by night. ![]()

Results from our forumwhat animal could this be?I don't have a picture, just a very odd description: the size of a house cat, looks like a racoon, a monkey, and a lemur all in one. It has a white, flat (almost smashed-looking) face and a gray body, and a stub for a tail. It waddles when it walks and it does have fur. Any ideas? ...

Animal Name Game!It is tough to tell in this picture - but for sure it isn't a possum. I can tell you that it is a primate. I don't think however it is a lemur (but it is hard to tell in this picture). Look at the nose, lemurs usually have whiskers and a dog like nose, in this picture(from what I can tell) ...
