The hand, especially of humans, consists of many joints such as the following:

• the wrist (or radiocarpal)
• intercarpal joints
• carpometacarpal joints
• intermetacarpal joints
• metacarpophalangeal joints
• interphalangeal joints

As such, the human hand is capable of forming a fist and other hand-related gestures.
