Why The Religious Minded Rule Science With Science... themselves was looking for alternative theories or not. Although in my opinion the evidence of evolution is nowadays about as solid as evidence of gravity, and not too many persons anymore find it necessary to try to find alternative explanations for falling apples... but it's not unscientifical ...
