Sense of balance in humans and animals to help them keep from falling over when walking or standing still.

Supplement

The visual system (eyes), vestibular system (ears), cognitive system and proprioception help humans maintain a normal physiologic posture. Some animals, though, have better sense of balance, such as a cat that uses its inner ear and tail to walk on a thin fence.
