Epoprostenol

(Science: chemical) a prostaglandin that is biosynthesised enzymatically from prostaglandin endoperoxides in human vascular tissue. It is a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation. The sodium salt has been also used to treat primary pulmonary hypertension.

Pharmacological action: antihypertensive agents, platelet aggregation inhibitors.
