East coast fever

a serious disease of cattle in eastern and central Africa, caused by the protozoan theileria parva and characterised by high fever, swelling of the lymph nodes, and high case fatality; transmitted by Rhipicephalus appendiculatus and other ticks of the genus Rhipicephalus.
