insects of the family blattidae, order orthoptera. The most common cockroaches are periplaneta americana, the american cockroach; blatta orientalis, the oriental cockroach; and blattella germanica, the european cockroach.

I accidentally cut a cockroach's half part of the abdomen.

yeah, i have heard that too. Some cockroaches can live 3 weeks without their head.
