Broth

Broth

in the food industry, a thin liquid which is made by boiling meat or vegetables or bones and is used in preparing other foods. It can be found in powder form in most grocery stores.

(Science: cell culture) a liquid medium containing a variety of nutrients which is used to grow cultures of bacteria and other microorganisms.

... linked stomach ulcers and helicobactor pylori.... really interesting guys... I think their names were Marshall and ..... One of the guys drank a broth containing the H.pylori bacteria to see if it gave him stomach ulcers..... it did! Brave guy... all good stuff in the name of science. Best wishes ...

... used meat samples, with clincal samples I would plate it out on nutrient agar, blood agar and MacConkey agar and then add a colony to nurtient broth the next day, from which I could dispense into various liquid media for testing sugar fermentation. For solid media I would add a colony directly.

... Sorbitol MacConkey Agar! For preparing the sample homogenate, what is the preferable diluent to be used? Why ?Is it sterile water, MRD, MacConkey broth, thyioglycolate ?? Is it it enough to prepare it from 1 g of meat?? Thank u for ur help Take care

Best general purpose media?

Yup, I also grew my little tiny red bacteria on nutrient agar slant. In my country, culture of bacteria usually uses Nutrient Agar (NA) or Nutrient Broth (NB). And for culture of mold, we usually use potato dextrose agar (PDA) Some people prefer to use branded PDA, but my lecturer prefer to make ...
