Asafoetida

The fetid gum resin or inspissated juice of a large umbelliferous plant (ferula asafoetida) of persia and the East india. It is used in medicine as an antispasmodic.

alternative forms: assafoetida.

Origin: Asa _ L. Foetidus fetid.
