(Science: immunology) a state of hypersensitivity induced by exposure to a particular antigen (allergen) resulting in harmful immunologic reactions on subsequent exposures, the term is usually used to refer to hypersensitivity to an environmental antigen (atopic allergy or contact dermatitis) or to drug allergy. The original meaning, now obsolete, included all states of altered immunologic reactivity, immunity as well as hypersensitivity. Gell and Coombs used the term allergic reaction to mean any harmful immunologic reaction causing tissue injury. 2. (Science: study) The medical specialty dealing with diagnosis and treatment of allergic disorders. Hypersensitivity reaction to a particular allergen; symptoms can vary greatly in intensity.An allergy is an antigen that causes an allergic reaction as the result of foreign agents present inside the body which antibodies attempt to break down and destroy. ![]()

Results from our forumSugar Allergy... also wonder if the allergic people to sugar, take a glucose only test? Pure straight glucose tolerance test to see if that was the object of their allergy? Were you treated by a physician and given a test to confirm the diagnoses? or is it just a phenomenon that you observed yourself?

Re: Sugar Allergy... wouldn't be safe to drive! It wears off over an hour or two, and can be followed by a low. I can also have a low if I'm hungry. I know it's not an allergy, but I haven't been able to find out much about what would be causing this, although obviously it's better when I don't eat sugar.

Spider Identification - Please Help!... in florida. I would google it and try to ID it that way. Usually they are very shy, and are not considered dangerous at all unless someone has an allergy to their bite. I believe they are a type of funnel spider. A great resource I use is whatsthatbug.com
