A-v anastomosis

A-v anastomosis --> arteriovenous anastomosis

(Science: anatomy) a vessel that directly interconnects an artery and a vein, and that acts as a shunt to bypass the capillary bed. Not to be confused with surgical anastomosis, nor with arteriovenous fistula.
