does anybody know how meiosis leads to genetic variation?

Crossing over is the well known. and also there are 2 cells combined.

I suggest you study the process. You won't understand anything if you do not know a thing about meiosis.
Meiosis leads to genetic variation by:
-crossing-over
-chromosome danse
-the fact there are 2 cells involved in fertilisation
