Postby kikakid on Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:57 pm

can someone please explain the concept of "linked traits" to me? i understnad that many traits are "X linked", but do linked traits exist outside of sex chromosomes? Also, how can linked traits become UNLIKED and how can i recognize this?

thank you!

It's really the genes that are linked, and any genes that share one chromosome are linked. X-linked genes are all on the X chromosome. This means the alleles get passed as combined "packages," not independent of each other, which is why it's an important genetic concept.
