Acid and gas from lactose

Postby jessi73 on Fri Oct 26, 2007 4:23 am

Hi everyone!
I am trying to find the appropriate test that will tell me whether my organism makes acid and gas from lactose or not. I looked all over the place and found that a lactose fermentation test would determine that.... just checking in to see if I'm on the right path??
Thanks :-)

just use the lactose broth in the test tube which is also filled with Durham tube. Don't forget to put a methyl red indicator in it.
After incubation for 2-3 days in 37C, if the broth turns yellow, then your bacteria fement lactose.
Q: Why are chemists great for solving problems?
A: They have all the solutions.
