A few questions regarding Fetal Alcohol Syndrome...

I've been doing some research on the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and I'm unable to find specifics on what exactly happens after ethanol crosses the placenta and enters the bloodstream of the unborn child.

What I have been able to find I'm unable to understand fully.

I know that Ethanol metabolizes in fetal tissues, but I don't know how that takes place or how that ends up damaging the development of the brain of the fetus?

Can somebody please shed light on this matter? I'm not looking for an extremely detailed explanation, just something to get me going. I'm currently in grade 12 biology.
