Bioedit alignment

Postby jamiejlg on Wed Jul 11, 2007 4:22 pm

Hi- I'm using BioEdit for the first time to do a simple alignment but having trouble. It's just a forward, reverse and respective primers.
Do I need to complement my sequences or does bioedit (clustal, really) automatically do it?

Thanks,
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

BioEdit is a great tool. It's quite brief on what you intend to do with your sequences. To design a PCR primer from the conserved region of sequences; you may perform the following steps:
1) Import all your sequences into the BioEdit
2) Perform a clustalw alignment
3) Browse for the conserved region for the primer design

Hope it helps.
