The First Step To Curing Acne

The first step to curing acne is knowing what type of acne you have. This information gives you precious insight to what may have actually triggered the acne outset. Once you know your acne trigger, you are one step closer to removing the acne activator and living acne free.
There are numerous types of acne, which could explain why it is so cumbersome if not seemingly impossible for the acne sufferer to find a cure. Looking at the list below, you may be surprised discover that you acne is not caused by stress, but your new bottle of designer perfume.

Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units. It is caused by the Propionibacterium acnes bacterium. The majority of sufferers are affected by acne vulgaris.

There are two main ways to "cure" the disease...

Tetracycline
Isotretinoin

Propionibacterium acnes is a gram positive bacterium. Thus, I would suggest using tetracycline or if you can afford it, isotretinoin.

Since tetracycline is an antibiotic, there is a small chance that the bacterium may become immune to it's effects. If this is the case, I would recommend other alternative antibiotics such as vancomycin. However, isotretinoin is the best treatment, but I doubt you would be able to afford it.

In the rare case that both antibiotics and isotretinoin fail to work, anti-androgens which suppress the effects of hormones may help. But remember, this is only a last resort and I would definitely not recommend it.

I am taking tetracycline about a year and it did not shows a lot of improvement.
Could u explain why is the bacterium become immune to the antibiotic?
What make the different between tetracycline and Isotretinoin?
My doctor did not suggest taking an antibiotic,and why is that?

I remember Kyle warning us once about isotretinoin and it's supposed correlation with suicides in adolescents. However, as two independent doctors once confirmed, there is too little evidence to take it seriously. I did not take the stuff in the end cause I was on a long-term antibiotic treatment, but would have taken it with no restrains...

PS: your doctor probably did not prescribe you an antibiotic because it is given only in the more severe cases of acne. It's not good to take antibiotics for no real reason, as Patrick has told us more often than not:lol:
