Can anyone answer it???hi,
i am a computer student. but i wanna know about the operations of pineal gland. can anyone say me.
well you can google that easily but this is good revision for me so ill post it anyway
btw you could have said PLEASE... Anyway, the pineal gland is an important gland it secretes the melatonin hormone that controls your daily (circadian rythms). This means that the chemicals that it releases tells your body if it is day time or night time. During the day you do not have a lot of melatonin, but when it becomes dark, there is more melatonin, which is what makes you sleepy at night!! hope that helps
Light travels through to the pineal gland and secretes the hormone which wakes you up

On the contrary actually, when we wake up that is caused by cortisol. The Pineal Gland's main function is when there is a lack of light, it produces melatonin. Melatonin makes you tired. The Pineal Gland also has some other functions that are still being discovered. It is said to be the "seat of the soul", and what is affiliated with near death experiences. In this respect, it is still a mystery. - disarm you with a smile

Actually pineal body plays an important role in birds, as they trigger their reproductive phase.
In mammals, pineal body doesn't function that much. Yes, it is called as "third eye" too. When human got hit on the back side of your head, they will see a rapid flash light. It means that the stimulus contacts the receptor generating the effect. ![]()
