Ecology as it relates to Biomass and Population1.) How does population density affect death rate?
2.) Why does the biomass in terrestrial ecosystems decease as one proceeds up to higher trophic levels? 3.) Which marine biome has the greatest species richness? Thank you very much....I would really appreciate the help.....
In most cases an increase in population denisty leads to a higher death rate, due to increased competition
Because one fox will live on 30 rabbits, but 30 foxes will not live on 30 rabbits- Carnivores need a number of prey to feed on, otherwise not enough energy (only around 10% is passed on) will be available to live.
About 10% of energy is transferred from the sun to plants. From plants to animals, and from animals to animals is about 1%.
Thanx
Kyle, i think you are wrong.
My book says that 1-3% of the sun energy is absorbed by plants. 10% of the energy passes to the next level on the food chain "I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. I want to understand the universe and answer the big questions, that is what keeps me going" - Stephen Hawking
I read a book that says exactly what you wrote. It matters not how strait the gate
