There is a old maidenhair tree near my home. we need to know the tree's age , but we can't see the tree's growth ring, because municipality prohibit the people cutting trees .
please tell me , what about reckon age of old tree?

I don't know a way of determining age without cutting it.

Good. As much as I remember, there are some radioactivity techniques too. But where to apply them? at your kitchen?

You don't have to cut it down, is there a way to take like a sample by cutting a small piece out?

actually you may be on to something there mith. There is a technique known as 'boring' (i think) that involves making a hole in the tree.
