Does please anybody of you give me a definition of saprobicity?
I'm correcting drafts of an action plan on watersources management. I found "alpha mesosaprobicity" and "beta mesosaprobicity". I think i would have to explain readers what does it mean.

It is the taking up of nutrients from the environment in solution. May or usually involves the secretion of extracellular enzymes on to the material, followed by the absorption of the product. For example a gut parasite using or ingesting the hosts digestive products. Some free-living flagellated protozoans exhibit this behavior.
