Does Glutamate Cross the Blood Brain Barrier?

Hi,

Does someone know about researches which show if glutamate is able to cross the blood brain barrier?

Of special interest would be, if additional intake of glutamate leads to a higher glutamate level in the brain (i. e. through a diet).
